The SEED School of Washington, DC is committed to the overall academic success of our scholars through the use of specialized programming. SEED believes that educators should have high expectations for all children and that it is our responsibility to help students achieve their individual potential and academic goals of performing at or above grade level in all subject areas. Children come to school at different stages of development and do not all learn at the same rate or with the same methods of teaching. Because of their differences, most children learn best when they are in small groups and have access to materials and/or activities adjusted to their learning style.
Beginning Monday, December 12, 2016 all students in grades 6th-8th will participate in the Academic Academies during their advisory period. This programming addresses the academic challenges identified by our 4 Point system which includes grades, formative and summative assessments, and reading levels.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2017 during the evening study zone period, selected 6th-10th grade students will receive additional assistance in the areas of reading comprehension, reading fluency, writing and math. Parents will receive additional information including a letter identifying your student assignment, the student’s most recent ANET and ACT Aspire scores, and grade report. An informational session providing detail information and resources for the Academic Academies will take place during the next Parent Teacher Association meeting on January 24, 2017.
Should you need additional information or have questions, please feel free to contact Ms. C. Harrod, Intervention Coordinator at 202) 302-5110 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
